Blended Learning
While most textbook companies first write content and then drop in related activities, STEMscopes was written with the hands-on activities first, resulting in more effective curriculum. Combining digital resources, print, and hands-on kits helps students develop a more complete sense of STEM by learning content through a variety of modalities—increasing engagement by fostering a blended learning environment while empowering both traditional instruction and 1-to-1 classrooms.
Enhance Literacy with Print
STEMscopes Texas student print combines a Science Literacy Notebook, Student Explore Journal, and STEMscopedia to supplement our comprehensive online curriculum. Although the items included in the printed books are available for download within the online curriculum, these print materials are handy tools that reduce the need for printing and distributing large numbers of colored handouts.
Science Literacy
This notebook includes Reading Science and Writing Science, which are both designed to promote students’ literacy and scientific comprehension skills. Each Reading Science element features an expository or narrative text that provides examples and applications of the content, along with multiple choice questions that assess reading and comprehension skills. The Writing Science offers students an opportunity to demonstrate mastery by responding to a prompt related to the science topic at hand.
Explore Journal
The Explore Journal provides all of the handouts needed for our Explore hands-on investigations in one easy-to-use booklet. Each scope's Student Journal includes space to notate observations, data measurement, and reflection, and all pages are perforated so that students can complete and turn in individual sheets. At the secondary level, this journal also includes handouts for the Next Step Inquiry element, where students can lead their own investigation using the scientific method.
Student STEMscopedia
The STEMscopedia includes each scope’s STEMscopedia text, plus parent connection activities and embedded comprehension questions. Each includes a table of contents and a glossary.
